Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) Ship YUUGIRI
The Japan Maritime Self Defense Force ( JMSDF ) Ship YUUGIRI, which is on an anti-piracy mission, visited Karachi Port and received a warm welcome from Commodore Shafquat Hussain Akhtar SI(M), Receiving Officer, Captain Misbha Ul Amin, Commanding Officer of PNS NASR, Pakistan Navy officers and sailors. Colonel YAMAMOTO, DA Japan, and Mr. SAIGA, member of Consulate-General of Japan in Karachi also attended the receiving ceremony.
 
Commander KUMASHIRO Takeshi, Commanding Officer of JS YUUGIRI made a courtesy call on Rear Admiral Naveed Ashraf HI(M), COMPAK on 9 July. During the meeting, matters of mutual interests and future Japan-Pakistan navies cooperation were discussed.
 
On 10 July, JS YUUGIRI and PNS ALAMGIL conducted goodwill exercises, including Cross Deck Landings/DLPs and PHOTOEX offshore from Karachi.

JS YUUGIRI’s visit represents strong friendly relations between JMSDF and the Pakistan Navy and their contribution to peace and stability in the region.
 
COVID-19 SOPs were perfectly followed during the meeting. In 2022, Japan and Pakistan will celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Embassy of Japan plans various programs to enhance our cordial bilateral relations, including defense exchanges and cooperation.
