Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen will fly for Washington tonight and will attend the yearly meeting with IMF, 1 Billion installment will be discussed between Pakistan and IMF.
Sources said Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen will leave for Washington today to attend the annual meeting of the IMF. The Minister will brief IMF on the economic situation in the annual meeting.
Virtual talks between the government and the IMF are starting already. Pakistani officials will brief IMF officials on financial matters.
After the technical talks, there will be policy level talks, talks between the Ministry of Finance and the IMF will continue this week.
Talks will be held between Pakistan and the IMF for a 1 billion installment. Yesterday, Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen while talking said that stable growth is our goal, if there is stable growth then IMF will not be needed.
Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen said that today we are not in the top 25 markets in Asia, taxes are not being collected, there are problems in exports, to increase the country's growth but no focus on exports, if there are no exports, how will the dollars come? They are trying to put the country on its feet, they want the next country to never need an IMF.
As soon as the growth starts, the current account deficit increases. The power sector needs to be fixed. If the growth is 5 to 7 percent, the poor will benefit. The Prime Minister said that relief should be given to the lower class. A complete package.
