Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to put efforts for sustainable economic relations and to take steps to formalize economic activities between the two countries. The agreement was reached during a meeting between National Security Advisor Nasir Khan Janjua and a business delegation from Afghanistan in Islamabad. They discussed ways and means to promote bilateral economic relations and trade. Both the sides agreed to remove difficulties faced by traders in order to improve trade volume between the two countries.

Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain has said strong bilateral trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Russia would help promote peace and stability in South Asia. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says political stability is a prerequisite for sustainable economic development in the country. He was addressing a ceremony after performing of ground breaking of two projects, Dera Ghazi Khan Northern bypass and Rakhi Gaj Bewata part-1, in Dera Ghazi Khan on Saturday. A ceremony was held at Pakistan’s Embassy in Dakar, Senegal in connection with Pakistan Day. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Senegal Muhammad Imran Mirza hoisted the national flag. The messages of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out on this occasion. In Singapore Pakistan Day was also celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour. The nation celebrates Pakistan Day on Friday with renewed commitment to work hard for the progress and stability of the country. The day marks adoption of historic Lahore Resolution this day in 1940 that provided a framework for realization of the goal of a separate homeland for Muslims of South Asia. Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will formally inaugurate the first unit of 4th Extension Power Project of Tarbela today. The project is being constructed on tunnel four of Tarbela Dam with three proposed units with installed capacity of 470MW each. The second unit of the project is scheduled to be commissioned in April followed by the third unit in May this year. The project upon completion will increase total generation capacity of Tarbela Hydel Power Station from existing 3,478 MW to 4,888MW. The Tarbela 4th extension project will provide 3.84 billion units of electricity to the national grid per annum.
