Embassy of Pakistan Niamey, is pleased to announce the arrival of Pakistan Navy Ship ‘NASR’ at Cotonou Port of Benin to deliver the gift of 1,000 Tons Rice for the brotherly people of Niger.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Niger HE Ali Ahmed Sirohey and Defense Adviser based in Abuja accompanied the representatives of governments of Niger & Benin to welcome the vessel and would organise different events to mark the occasion.
The Ambassdor praised Pakistan Navy for undertaking extraordinary ‘Gunboat Philanthropy’. The vessel has traversed 17,000 kms through the seas to deliver the gift committed by Foreign Minister HE Shah Mehmood Qureshi on margins of his participation in ICFM hosted in Niamey in end November 2020.
The Ambassdor expressed satisfaction at the safe culmination of vessel’s 8,000NM journey as a reaffirmation of historical bonds of fraternity & amity between peoples of Pakistan & Niger.
Ambassdor acknowledged the brotherly government of Benin for its gracious support and wholehearted facilitation for the operation.
Ambassador praised the professionalism of Pakistan Navy and thanked Commodore Shafqat for leading the Mission. He also praised the fleet for their commitment to national duty and international cooperation. Ambassador observed that PNS Nasr had recorded history by executing farthest deployment for humanitarian assistance. Officials from Ministry of Humanitarian Action & Disaster Management of Niger and representatives of Government, Navy and Port authorities of Benin graced the handing-over ceremony.
Talking to media, H.E. Sahadi Sandi Abdou, Ambassador of Republic of Niger to Benin welcomed the vessel and thanked the people and government of Pakistan for their sentiments of fraternity and friendship.
