Erdogan’s elevation as President to strengthen Pak – Turkey ties: Mamnoon

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that elevation of Recep Tayyip Erdogan as Turkish President will give further impetus to the already existing strong bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Turkey.

The President made these remarks while attending the Presidential handover ceremony for Turkish President- elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Cankaya Presidential Palace.

Earlier on his arrival at Cankaya Presidential Palace, President Mamnoon Hussain and his spouse Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon Hussain were received and greeted by the outgoing Turkish President Mr. Abdullah Gul.

The President on the occasion lauded the valuable contribution of the outgoing President for promoting Pakistan-Turkey relations. He particularly referred to Abdullah Gul’s role in hosting Afghanistan-Pakistan-Turkey trilateral summits and hoped that Turkey will continue her positive role in bringing peace and stability in the region.

President Mamnoon congratulated President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who earlier took the office as the 12th Turkish President in the Turkish Parliament. The President conveyed best wishes on his own behalf and on behalf of the people of Pakistan on his elevation as the Turkish President. He expressed hope that Turkey-Pakistan relations would touch new heights under his dynamic leadership.
