68th Independence Day of Pakistan celebrated in Hong Kong

The 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with national fervor and enthusiasm here at the premises of the Pakistan Association of Hong Kong, in a simple but impressive ceremony. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Pakistanis including men, women, children and elderly.

The function commenced with hoisting of the National Flag by the Consul General of Pakistan in Hong Kong Mr. Ghufran Memon to the accompaniment of national anthem. Special cake was also cut to commemorate the day.

The messages of President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out by the Consul General on this occasion which reminded the participants of the great sacrifices the nation rendered six decades ago to achieve the country where they would be free to lead their lives free of the prejudices of colour, creed and caste.

Speaking on the occasion, the Consul general highlighted the significance of the Independence Day and said that like every year, today we pledge to put our heart and soul together to make Pakistan a strong and stable nation “There is a need to work hard and make collective efforts to transform Pakistan into a modern, progressive and tolerant society as envisaged by Father of the nation Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Special prayers for the prosperity and welfare of the homeland were also offered. President Pakistan Association of Hong Kong Mr. Qamar Zaman Minhas congratulated Pakistanis on celebration of the Independence Day of Pakistan. Diplomatic Focus Correspondent
